And Then God Sneezed!
Feb 18th, 2010 | By Patricia Travers | Category: Short Stories | 518 viewsIf you could see the area that God occupies you would probably be surprised; it’s not what people think. It’s a lot more technological than spiritual. If you stop and think about it, it shouldn’t be that much of a surprise. After all God has to keep his eye on everything. Everything: from the smallest most seemingly insignificant detail to the enormity of the galaxy. It’s a lot of work and there needs to be a process to do it successfully.
God’s area is a lot like the Starship Enterprise from Star Trek, except that God doesn’t wear the snazzy jumpsuit. Ok, since we’re being honest here God does occasionally dress up in the Star Trek outfit just to amuse those of us who assist him/her, but God prefers the Jean Luc Picard version to the James T. Kirk version. This always starts a raging debate between the Thrones and Dominations about which was the better Star Trek that can only be stopped when God dispatches all of them to various parts of the Universe to check on trouble spots and requires them, upon their return to write up a FULL, DETAILED REPORT. They hate it, but it never stops them from starting the debate in the first place. Angels, what can you say?
Back to the control room though; it’s an immense space surrounded by an infinite number of display panels upon which God can zero in on everything – and I do mean everything. So those of you who are non-believers, that’s cool but God can still see what you are doing. In addition to making sure that the universal balance is always happening, God also fields prayer requests to various assistants (the answer is usually no by the way: humans pray for the most absurd things sometimes. Do you really think that God has any desire to give you a car? Come ON.) It’s a non-stop operation 24/7/365.
Most of the time things run remarkably well, just like on earth. A lot of people don’t think that things are good on earth, but that’s because you people like to focus on the negative. God is still working out a way for earth people to realize what a beautiful planet you live on and that it gives you pretty much everything you need. In any case, you get the idea that God is busy pretty much all the time.
Time is different in God’s region. What for you might be several years is the blink of an eye in God’s time which actually leads to the circumstances that lead to God’s one vulnerability.
Yes, God is vulnerable. Most people think that because God is all knowing, all seeing, all powerful that he/she must be perfect. Not by a long shot. In fact, God is more vulnerable than anyone could imagine. This vulnerability comprises two separate, but related conditions.
The first is energy. Being a sentient being God is made up of energy. That’s what created and continues to sustain the process. God’s energy is massive, but as we all know all energy runs down in time. God realized this first (of course) when he/she started feeling a bit tired. After careful analysis of the situation God came to the conclusion that for him/her to continue to exist that she/he must have a way to replenish his/her energy field. That’s when God created humans. I’ll give you a moment to get over the shock.
God decided that humans would be the best source of continued energy over time. He/she designed a system wherein humans would continue to evolve over many lives (guess what? Past life regression, evolutionists, and fundamentalists – you’re all correct in your belief systems). Of course there were a few false starts: remember the stories in the Bible about the people who lived to be 700 and 900 years old? True. The problem with this extended life span is that it would take far too long to go through the various levels of spiritual development that would be required to finally have the knowledge and experience to become part of God’s energy, so God had to retool the process so that people didn’t live quite so long, but that each soul would live many different lives. Think of it as going through the education process on earth. It’s something like that. Once implemented this process was working fabulously well for a very long time.
One day though God experienced an event that shook even him/her. Not only was it unsettling for God, but it had ramifications that even God could not control. Think about that for a minute: imagine a situation that even GOD can’t control?
Allergies. God has allergies. It wasn’t always the case though; it started after he started using humans as replacement energy sources. For some strange reason that even God can’t explain, allergies don’t stay with the body when the soul departs. All of a sudden God is sitting there one day running things like the consummate professional he/she is and then – Sneeze.
Most people know that when you sneeze you “die” for a fraction of a second (and no, you can’t die from sneezing), but it does interrupt the energy field for a teensy, weensy period of time for both God and you. What is different between what happens when you sneeze and when God sneezes though is monumental: When God sneezes it causes little ripples in the fabric of time. It’s these small ripples that cause the bad things that happen to people. Tidal waves, earthquakes, early death, unjust treatment of any group of people. You name it and it happens when God sneezes.
Because it’s part of God’s plan it can’t be changed, so the next time that something bad happens, don’t ask why God did it or didn’t prevent it; just remember that God sneezed.
