Lessons from the Orient Express – Part VII
Apr 5th, 2010 | By Heather Ann Schmidt | Category: Lessons From the Orient Express, Series | 526 viewsLetters
The autumn passed into the winter months and Ellen and Isabelle frequented Notting Hill on the occasional weekend. During that time, Isabelle and James had gotten quite close and Isabelle found herself drawn to him as the months had passed. They had written letters to one another and discovered a common joy in that. Isabelle wanted to express the passion she had for him in her heart, but found that she feared it. She had never felt this way and was quite unfamiliar with the language needed to get her ideas across. But as they continued to write one another, she found her way. As she began to romantically become involved with James, she found that he had quite a cheeky side to him that aroused her when she read his words. It was almost as if the sight of his words–the very ink on the page was an aphrodisiac. Here are their words:
22 November
Dear Isabelle,
I find that our last weekend together went all too quickly and that throughout the day I find a hunger for that sweet mouth of yours to be on mine again. I admit that I am not being reserved at all in my letters to you anymore and that I hope to take you away with me when I visit home soon. I want to show you the Edinburgh that I know and love and not some tourist version.
As you go through your week, know that you are in my thoughts.
Love,
James

Dearest James,
I have to admit when I read your letter, it made me tingle from head to toe and I feel the same. Our last kiss was so deep, so pungent. I found a poem in this little anthology I found at one of the bookstores in town that I wanted to share with you :
Deep Kiss by Fahmida Riaz
Deep myrrh-scented kiss,
deep with the tongue, suffused
with the musky perfume
of the wine of love: I’m reeling
with intoxication, languid
to the point of numbness,
yet with a mind so roused
an eye flies open
in every cell.
And you! Sucking my breath,
my life, from its deepest,
most ancient abode.
Kiss.
Wet, warm, dark.
Pitch black!
Like a moonless night,
when rain comes flooding in.
A glint of runaway time
fleeing in the wilderness of my soul
seems to be drawing closer.
I sway across a shadowy bridge.
It’s about to end, I think,
somewhere ahead,
there is light.
I have to say, I long for more than your kisses, my love…and yes, a thousand times yes, show me your home!!
Your,
Isabelle

My sweet one,
It has been such a long week and business is always pressing so I do not get to enjoy time to write like I want to. I am counting the days until we leave. Please know that I am aching to be alone with you and that even though we don’t speak or I can’t write as much as I wish to, you are always on my mind and I miss you. When you sleep tonight, imagine what it will be like when I can finally share a bed with you. Let your dreams be your guide to my actions.
Love,
James

My Love,
Your last letter prompted sweet dreams indeed. I would tell you everything that I dreamed about but I would rather show you. How I long for you to explore every inch of me with that sweet mouth of yours. Let the holiday come soon!
Your Izzy

My Lady!
One week and I get to take you away! I hope your examinations have gone well and that your first months at Oxford have proven to be both fruitful and memorable.
Think of me as you lie in your bed and imagine my arms around you.
Love,
James
