Whispers and Eyes
Oct 8th, 2009 | By Carla Dodd | Category: Poetry | 209 viewsSometimes
You just don’t want
To tell anyone
The secret
Because you are never prepared
For the whispers
In hushed voices
Low and lower again
When they think you’re not looking
Whispers
That judge
Moments
You cannot change
Whispers
Deciding who is deserving
Who is a monster
What is to never ever be clean
And the eyes
That look at you
With sadness
With pity
Eyes that flicker
With questions
How could you let this happen?
Why didn’t you stop it?
Eyes’ icy sleet
Stinging judgment:
Maybe you liked it
Maybe you deserved it
Sometimes you know
And you lock away your secrets
From deep wounds to be inflicted
by whispers and eyes.

About writebrain: Content Editor, Troubadour 21 - Thanks to Mr. Gackstetter, my eighth grade creative writing teacher who let us write for extra credit if we didn't like our assignments, I have been a poet (on and off) since I was 13. I have a degree in journalism and have written more than 1,000 article, but really started into literary writing for good in the past few years. My work has been published online at Erotique and Poetry Life and Times, and I have been published in college publications and as part of a collection, After the Storm.
