Night
Jun 19th, 2009 | By Susan Walker | Category: Poetry | 438 viewsNight falls slowly, blending dark with light
Shadows wake, yawn and stretch out long and longer
as Day yields to Night,
Surrendering to thoughts of death and despair, loss and loneliness, I keep Night’s dark vigil
until Night gives way to Dawn’s pale light;
Banished to dim hiding places, shadows and dark thoughts await Night’s return.
Bathed in Day’s blessed light, I sleep.

About Susan: I am happily married with 2 children 16 and 19. I am a fairly new poet in that I have just found the courage to share my poetry with a wider audience. When I'm not writing or hanging out with my family, I enjoy yoga and studying Sanchin-Ryu karate where I have earned my 2nd degree black belt. |
