His own world

In his own world
Inside an Irish family cottage,
dinner, a slab of cold meat
Outside a slab of cold rain, tears at the Church on the Hill
The glow of fire’s misery warming the wallpaper like muzzle flashes
Eggshells for each of the seen but unheard
on which to rest uneasy
Food, perhaps too, if his ponies ran true.
While our breadwinner, deep in his own dangerous world
Disputed and rewrote the events of his day like a malicious mime
His hands eloquent in their impotent (frustration/rage/ )fury
Demonstrating to his superiors
the many sinful errors that he would never tolerate
in his own world
Eyes of the unseen down, no wish to be included,
fear-filled not wanting to be the blade that stands tall
To even speculate on his revisionist mystery was  a sinful,
singluarly dangerous endeavour
a pit of quicksand, where the sharp, hard slap of his overeager hand
Was common for perceived offenses, adjudicated only
In his own world
A grievous sin could be, a childhood reverie, unhidden
Perhaps a laugh was enough on some of his bargain days
to be included in his fierce  and brutal daydream
For everyone knew that happiness untempered, unbridled
Was a sinful invitation to disaster
Who do you think you are? Echoing like a hard slap across a child’s face
With the stifled, shocked cry of childhood hubris, corrected
Or the illusion of family comfort long obliterated
By the pounding of his hob-nail boots on the bedroom door
Blitzkrieging his childish, terrified underlings out of sleep
In their own world
Where I rewrote the events of my days to fit safely into his own world
Unbidden, unseen, unfed, unwashed, unheard, unwanted and unloved
Shivering in the slab rain, like fish on a cold line
No hope for the beaten, bruised pre-teen idealist poet
Hope an Achilles heel, pierced with an arrow
Poisoned by his dark emotional pain
Bless you father for you have sinned against me…
Zeus, in his own world, Almighty Shitey
I’ll dance on your grave someday…Agememnon
