Upon Summer
Jul 10th, 2009 | By James Lehan Paulin | Category: Poetry | 477 viewssoft breezes ease the humid day
heat wraps around and says slow down
still nights alive with cricket sounds
sweet ice tea slakes dry thirst away
dry spells high fry spring greens to brown
spray round as insect life abounds
swim, wade or soak in lake or pool
kids fool with hoses to stay cool
family reunion foray
picnic table outdoor affair
colorful flowers bloom away
comfortable air wafts clipped hair
short pants and sandals on display
squirt gun fight on a get wet dare

I really like this, James. It makes me want to get outside and enjoy the sun while it’s here.
