soft steel

I jump around
from reel to reel
it’s just how I feel
I won’t attempt to
paper-fold it
digest transgress
or articulate
besides it’s clearly
way too late
ever see a
building burn?
of course you did
on 2sday
& on Thursday
it was more of the same
you barely slept
though it never came
there’s a yellow folder
under a blue paperweight
made in Malaysia
which does good business
with other countries
some that have oil
some that have fleece
with rented guns
corrupted police
narrow eyes
covered in soot
12-hr shifts w/
2-min breaks
digging through concrete
& mountains of hate
a flashlight
a severed wrist
a cellular,
permanent fracture
the dogs continue to sniff
w/o barking
the #s are sick
& totally shocking
& tiresome
& totally unreal
can’t they invent
a softer type of steel?
