Icebergs beg Glaciers
Sep 30th, 2009 | By Deonte Osayande | Category: Poetry | 1018 viewsWe twinkle like glitter in the snow
And melt every time the sun shines.
I don’t ever cry for you,
I puddle.
An avalanche approaches
I become blanketed in the cool sweet rush of it all
Overcoming, overlapping, overcasting everything
A single touch swirls up a snowstorm
The birth of a blizzard comes to form
In every embrace
Chilling shivers
I wear rose petals made of snowflakes
As medals of honor to cover the heartache
Movement frequent as a nomad
Snowman, things getting frosty
Magic under a hat, button nose
It’s pressed every time we kiss
Our connection hits like a snowball
And I’ve fallen for the ice within those eyes
Slick,
Frostbitten I taste us and all else goes numb
My breath becomes a cloud against the window as I hum
You attract me magnetically at the poles,
I find breathing difficult when it’s polar
And my heart sits in a semi circle beating hollow drums
As you flood it with 40 days and 40 nights sitting arctic
Icebergs beg glaciers
To erode through me like the land
So I may sit in your hand
And even if your acknowledgment of me is but a speck of sand
Then it is still equal to the glitter like twinkle in fresh snow
And I can still melt with you
Peaking my heart’s intent like a mountain
The winter solstice I give all relevance
With the equivalence to my equinox,
Giving me balance with your love, I long for it every time
Hypothermic

Deonte, this is a wonderful piece of writing. Loved the way you have mastered this conveyance of heartache using the cold tones of winter and ice. Bravo!!!
The first stanza…got me and kept me. I love your words Deonte.
And I Quote… “I don’t ever cry for you, I puddle.” Classic!!! I Loved the Imagery Here ‘D’!
