A Beautiful Lie
Jul 3rd, 2009 | By Carlton Lloyd Smith | Category: Poetry | 464 viewsThe ocean cries out soft for me today
Placid waters whisper out my name
The changing tide ebbs from the distant bay
Reminding me that nothing stays the same
Placid waters whisper out my name
Concealing their destruction left behind
Reminding me that nothing stays the same
Then most when we have paid it little mind
Concealing their destruction left behind
Though little with each passing wave is harmed
Then most when we have paid it little mind
Will innocence beguile us with its charm
Though little with each passing wave is harmed
When resting sweet and soft in its embrace
Will innocence beguile us with its charm
A devil’s purpose wears an angel’s face
When resting sweet and soft in its embrace
I know its lies will move the hearts of men
A devil’s purpose wears an angel’s face
I close my eyes and hear it once again
I know its lies will move the hearts of men
The ocean cries out soft for me today
I close my eyes and hear it once again
The changing tide ebbs from the distant bay
