Heaven’s Gate
Jun 20th, 2009 | By W.B. Burkholder | Category: Poetry | 421 viewsPartial fallacy, the voices of the agreeable and “Cow-towed”.
Divisional borders drawn between truth and self perceived dreams.
Blinded to insight and knowledge of self,
The paths to enlightenment, dry and barren.
I do not brag, nor do self illuminate; for warrants might be drawn.
But at times, enlightenments lonely path draws heavily upon my soul.
I carry this thought, these burdensome truths, that no one wants to hear.
Something in the human condition, that digresses to hate and fear.
I have made attempts to understand my ignorance, and takes steps to stamp it out.
But at times in spite of my efforts, that dark flame does not go out.
I am given the gift of reassessment, to question motive and means.
To remove forgone conclusions, and sow new poets seams.
For it seems that no matter my take on life, it’s as the river, ever changing.
That friends once strong now are weak, ideas, but that of a lark.
But I will not falter, will not descend into dark.
But continue to walk a lonely path.
I pray that a border exists, where on the other side waits,
The answers to my questions, just beyond heaven’s gate.
