Night Fires by Edward D. Nudelman

Sep 28th, 2009 | By W.B. Burkholder | Category: Book Reviews | 631 views

It is always a thrill for me when I come across a new publication; moreover when I can actually get my hands on a copy of one. The stars must have been aligned correctly, for I was able to make the aquaintance of a very fine poet, Edward D. Nudelman.

His very first chap book entitled, “Night Fires” (Pudding House Publications 2009) is a compilation of soft voices all emanating from one person. However, the meanings and their reminiscent quality speak loudly and unabatedly.

Nudelman takes us to the living rooms and movie theaters, the fields and front yards, and the ant hills of his memory. With each poem a separate and unique journey is undertaken. The readers find themselves witnessing these scenes, the moments that have influenced a poet’s life.

It is this craft that Nudelman plies so well, to where the reader, if only for a moment in terms of these thirty five pages, can escape. He paints vivid reality in reminiscence, in the reality of moments experienced by one, but universal to all in one way or the other.

His work is readily identifiable within ourselves, for we have all experienced moments such as the ones he writes about at one time or another. His works bring a sense of universal collective memory, all of which are executed in a flawless manner, allowing the reader to feel welcome and at home while reading his works.

Edward Nudelman is an observer. He is one of the beats in the universal pulse of poetry. One that adds vitality and strength to the artistic community. “Night Fires” is a must read book of poetry for anyone wanting the experience of true artistic visualization, and reminiscent perfection in terms of the written word.

Troubadour21.com gives “Night Fires” Five Stars for its readability, ingenuity, and creativity.
