Lyrics of an Awakening by Brook Blander

Nov 2nd, 2009 | By W.B. Burkholder | Category: Book Reviews | 420 views

When Brook Blander signed her copy of Lyrics of an Awakening, she thanked me and T21 for accepting her into our artist circle. However, after reading her first volume of work, it is I who should thank her.

Ms. Blander’s reflective writings are a gift to anyone who has the good fortune to experience this fine poetry.

She writes of her joys and pains, her passions and her awakenings. I know when I am experiencing great poetry when the words move so deftly from the page and caress my eyes, finding their way to my heart and imagination.

Lyrics of an Awakening does not disappoint. It opens yet another avenue of insight for the reader, allowing for the imagination to seek out and secure higher possibilities within the confines of  its covers.

With each turn of the page, I am left with a brighter smile, a lighter heart, and a greater respect for this excellent poetess and writer. She is indeed, one of Detroit’s poetic masters.

Published by Soulful Pen Publishing in Rochester Michigan, and in cooperation with www.ebonylotus.comthis collection is a must read book of poetry. Ms. Blander can also be seen at various poetry venues and events in the Detroit, Michigan metro area: places such as The Beat Café in Warren Michigan, Poetry, Pages, Scribes in Southfield Michigan, and various other venues.

The website www.ebonylotus.com is also owned and operated by Ms. Blander. There you can find information with regards to purchasing your very own copy or, you can go to www.brookblander.com as well.

I can say that one of the best gifts I have received this year is a copy of Brook Blander’s Lyrics of an Awakening And as such, I am more than happy to rate this volume of magnificent writing at seven stars: The first seven star rating assigned by T21 to date.

T21 recommends Lyrics of an Awakening to be the first choice to place on your book shelves, but only after reading each and every page again, and again, and again.

Other collections by this poet include: From this day Forward, Soul Spoken, and Personal
